GAZA, 19 December 2025 – Four out of every five children in Gaza will enter the new year still facing crisis levels of hunger, despite the agreement by Israeli authorities two months ago to allow more aid in, including food, said Save the Children following the release of new hunger data.

The Cabinet Secretary for Finance will set out the Scottish Government’s proposed budget for 2026/27 on 13th January. All eyes are on whether this will be a budget that provides hope that this year will be a better one for families. We’d like to see more help for families with babies and are calling on the Scottish Government to invest in a Baby Guarantee.

RAMALLAH, Friday 28 November 2025 – Israeli military operations have forced entire communities in areas of the northern West Bank into lockdown in their homes, keeping children out of school, jeopardising family incomes and increasing risk of physical violence and child detention from the Israeli military, Save the Children said.

Moazzam Malik, CEO of Save the Children UK said: “We welcome this bold action by the Chancellor to scrap the two-child limit. By the end of this Parliament, 450,000 children across the country will have been lifted out of poverty. Scrapping this unjust policy is the single most powerful step to reduce child poverty in a generation.

BANGKOK, 25 November – Severe flooding in Southern Thailand has impacted around 400,000 children including at least three children killed and another child missing, with thousands of others displaced or without power, said Save the Children.

GAZA CITY, 18 November 2025 – Children in Gaza are sleeping on the bare ground with no shelter, in flimsy shorts and t-shirts that are sodden with sewage water after their tents flooded in a weekend of heavy rains, putting them at risk of disease, Save the Children said. Hundreds of tents and makeshift shelters were flooded on Friday, affecting more than 13,000 households, according to the UN, as Gaza’s harsh winter conditions begin.

Written in 2014 by the children’s author, poet and activist Michael Rosen after the Israeli government banned a radio advert naming children killed in Gazai, the poem highlights the silencing of children’s suffering in the face of devastating violence ii. With at least 20,000 children killed in Gaza since October 2023 — and the true figure likely far higher — its message remains painfully relevant todayiii. Lending their voices to the moving reading includes the singer-songwriter and political activist Annie Lennox, Oscar-winning actor and political activist Dame Vanessa Redgrave, actor and comedian Ambika Mod, Oscar-nominated actor Guy Pearce, presenters Laura Whitmore and Nadia Sawalha, photographer and Oscar-nominated director Misan Harriman, model and actor Poppy Delevingne and the poem’s creator, Michael Rosen.
