I would say it's taught me to be more socially confident. I think, you know, you get used to chatting to people throughout the day. So many strangers come in, but you kind of learn to see the good in everyone.

Arsenal

Alison, Branch Volunteer

I’ve gained new skills such as organising public meetings, setting up online meetings, persuading businesses to support us and becoming a saleswoman. I never thought I could do that! It’s great to give everyone the opportunity to use the skills they acquired at work or through their life, and Save the Children does that.

Stephen, Shop Volunteer

Stephen, Shop Volunteer

I’m not just doing this for me, I'm doing it for the kids, for the community, for the charity. And I'm really helping out and I'm really making a positive contribution to what's going on in the world.

Michelle, Chamgemaker

Michelle, Changemaker

I’d encourage anyone who has some spare time every now and then to think about becoming a Changemaker too! The future needs people like us to put an end to fossil fuel consumption and the younger generation definitely need us, to help give them a voice and to give them the future they deserve.

Dipak, Shop Volunteer

Dipak, Shop Volunteer

It's been a great way of learning about a new skill of fashion, how to organise clothes so that they can bring in the best revenue for the charity and it's a way of meeting new people.

Volunteering Abroad

Unfortunately we do not send volunteers from the UK to volunteer to any of our programmes in other countries..  We work with local partners and staff who have the relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

If you are interested in volunteering overseas, try to find out about how you can support community initiatives that strengthen families. Have a look at the ReThinkOrphanges checklist which talks through how you can make sure your time abroad is spent making the most positive difference.
