Safeguarding and governance services

Safeguarding that works, tailored to your organisation

With over 100 years of protecting those most at risk, we bring together deep expertise, and a relentless commitment to dignity and protection for all. Our services will strengthen your systems and help to build a more accountable, safer organisation trusted by employees and customers. Together we can prevent harm and damage to your brand before it occurs.

Who do we work with?

We support organisations across all sectors, and especially businesses whose employees interact with vulnerable adults and communities, young people, children and families. Whether you are at the beginning of your safeguarding journey or looking to refine mature systems, we build a tailored pathway that meets you where you are.

Why do tailored solutions matter?

No two organisations look the same and neither should their safeguarding approach.

Your people, locations, operating model and digital footprint create a unique risk profile that off-the-shelf guidance cannot address. When safeguarding isn’t tailored, it is harder for staff to recognise concerns, systems can miss early warning signs, and survivors may not feel safe to speak up.

We start by listening and together we identify where your current approach is strong, where there are gaps, and how safeguarding can better support your mission and brand.

Our approach

Our work is rooted in trauma informed, survivor centred principles, and grounded in Save the Children’s safeguarding model across prevention, reporting, response, learning and governance. We collaborate with you to ensure your procedures uphold the rights and wellbeing of every person who interacts with your organisation, staff, volunteers, partners, customers and, especially, children and young people.

We don’t simply inform; we equip you to transform.

That means we can:

  1. Translate complex safeguarding expectations into clear, practical steps for your setting.
  2. Build confidence and capability across boards, senior leaders and wider teams.
  3. Embed safeguarding into governance, culture, digital activity and day-to-day decision making.

Our services:

Our delivery lays the foundation for a culture of safety and provides specialist support when you are facing crises, complex cases or remediation. We offer an end-to-end suite of governance and safeguarding services that can be combined into a tailored package for your organisation.

1. Policy and procedure review and development

We review, refine and develop your safeguarding policies, codes of conduct and procedures so they are robust, accessible and relevant to your context. We align your documents with current legislation, regulation and best practice.

2. Risk assessment and gap analysis

We identify organisational vulnerabilities and strengths across your activities, settings and partnerships. Then co design tailored mitigation plans to help you prioritise resources, strengthen controls and evidence that your board and senior leaders are actively overseeing safeguarding risks.

3. Safeguarding training

We design and deliver bespoke training for staff, volunteers and board members, reflecting your sector, roles and risk profile. Sessions can cover core safeguarding responsibilities, safer recruitment, online harms, reporting and escalation, and leadership responsibilities for creating a safe culture.

4. Investigation and case management support

When concerns are raised, organisations must respond promptly, safely and fairly. We offer expert guidance on complex cases, including those involving children or young people, and support you to manage them in a survivor centred way. This can include advice on triage, investigation plans, interviews, risk management and learning reviews.

Safer Organisational Culture Guidance

Policies alone do not keep people safe, organisational culture does.

We design and support implementation of cultural change programmes that embed safeguarding, accountability and safety into everyday behaviours, leadership practices and systems. This can include, although is not limited to; leadership workshops, staff engagement, reflective practice spaces and mechanisms for safe feedback and reporting.

We also offer targeted services which include the following:

Our services can include strategic advice on child online safety and digital wellbeing; risk and policy reviews; child rights and safeguarding input for digital products, platforms and programmes; training and capacity building for staff and leadership teams; and the co-development of practical tools, guidance and educational resources for children, parents, educators and frontline professionals.

Targeted ethical storytelling training for the media and wider entertainment industry focuses on how to tell powerful stories involving vulnerable groups, those experiencing crisis and children, without compromising their dignity, rights or safety. Sector specific scenarios and roleplays to embed learning into everyday editorial and creative decisions.

We can combine short, practical modules with case studies, developed with safeguarding and lived experience experts. This training can be tailored for newsrooms, production companies, streamers, advertising agencies, talent teams and influencer networks.

For peer organisations, we offer safeguarding support for development and humanitarian programming in complex operational contexts, including remote management and partner led delivery. We can support you to design and implement safer programmes, strengthen partner safeguarding, and maintain accountability to children and communities.
