David St John is the husband of the late Elizabeth St John, an ardent supporter of Save the Children for 50 years. She volunteered as a legacy supporter, speaker and fundraiser until the end of her life in May 2019.
Throughout all that time, David was by her side supporting her every step of the way. Now he’s keeping her memory alive by joining forces with all 23 members of his family to do the Walk the World challenge.
Family members aged from 8 to 81 are virtually walking, running, cycling, swimming and paddling their way to Cox’s Bazar, 6,000 miles or more and aiming to raise £10,000!

David said: “Elizabeth started sponsoring children back in 1969 and she remained a loyal supporter for 50 years until she passed away in 2019. And now all the family are following in her footsteps with Walk the World!
"We wanted to set ourselves an ambitious goal to honour her memory, so we decided to take on the biggest challenge and aim for Cox’s Bazar.”
David and the family have been achieving around 400 miles a week and are giving themselves three months to complete the challenge, arriving at their virtual destination by mid-July.

“We’re now heading for the Black Sea, 1,723 miles covered, 4,323 to go,” said David. “Elizabeth loved country walks and I think she would have been so very proud of our efforts.”
The family have raised £1,586 so far and everyone in Community Fundraising wishes them good luck and huge thanks for their fantastic support!
