Together, we fight for children every single day

How we work to make a difference

Emergencies

We make sure we can be there to help when children need us most. We have appeals running in Indonesia, Yemen, Syria and for the Rohingya in Bangladesh, and are set up to provide support immediately through the money raised for our emergency fund. You can read more about our emergency fund here. Whether children are at risk due to conflict or natural disasters, we make sure we’re there providing all we can to ease their suffering and help them to recover. Take a look at the work we did with donations for our East Africa food crisis appeal, which recently ended here.

our work around the world

We work in 68 countries around the world, providing unique care and attention to each child we encounter based on their specific needs. Whether that is providing high calorie peanut paste to help children recover from malnutrition, creating Safe Spaces for children impacted by war to visit and express themselves, or working to reunite children like Rizky who have been separated from their families, we do all we can to support them.

Our UK work

We are hugely proud of the work we have done in the UK, but also recognise we have a long way to go. We work in homes, nurseries, schools and communities to narrow the gap between children living in poverty and their better off classmates. Find out the shocking stats of how poverty can affect learning and read more about our work to combat this here.

How you can help children now

There are so many ways you can support Save the Children. You could donate to a specific appeal – such as our most recent Indonesia tsunami appeal – or you can give to our emergency fund which goes to where the need is greatest at that time. You could learn about the benefits of monthly giving or text to donate. You can also give just to our UK work or fundraise to raise money that way.

You could make a donation of unwanted clothes, books, bric-a-brac, toys, music and films to one of our many Save the Children charity shops, or even pop in to one to find something that takes your fancy. We also have our Mary’s Living and Giving shops, set up with retail expert Mary Portas, these boutique shops ensure you’ll find something beautiful, whilst also supporting our work.

Want to give your time instead? Check out our latest petitions, and sign your name to support our cause. You can also volunteer at one of our shops across the UK, and give you time to help us keep our shops open and raise money for children.
