On Thursday 10 December 2026, Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day is back – and you don’t want to miss out.

Sign up with your workplace, school, community or friend group and join millions of people getting silly for a seriously good cause with Save the Children.

You get to have fun, commit some crimes against fashion, and create lasting change for children with your donation, how often do you get to say that?!

What is Christmas Jumper Day?

Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children's biggest annual fundraising event, and one of the UK's favourite Christmas charities traditions. We launched it back in 2012, and since then it's raised an incredible £42m thanks to every one of you.

It's simple. Every December, we ask schools, workplaces, and community and friend groups across the UK to put on their best (or worst) Christmas jumper and donate whatever they can afford, typically £2 for adults and £1 for children. Some people call it "festive jumper day", some call it "national Christmas jumper day" - whatever you call it, it's one of the easiest ways to turn a bit of festive fun into real change for children.

By taking part this year, you can help support kids and families who are having to deal with an increasingly volatile world. We'll use the money raised on Christmas Jumper Day to help children in the UK and all around the world stay safe, healthy and learning, and change their future for good.

When was the first Christmas Jumper Day?

The first Christmas Jumper Day was on 14 December 2012.

How much money does Christmas Jumper Day raise?

Christmas Jumper Day for schools

Organising Christmas Jumper Day for your school, nursery or youth group? We've got you covered.

"It makes life easier to have the resources to hand. The posters were bright and visually appealing. Pupils were able to take ownership of and lead the event."

However you want to run it, we'll help make it happen. Announce it in assembly, remind classes at form time, or turn the whole school into a Christmas Jumper festival - it's up to you. Sign up and we'll send you when/where posters, assembly presentations, KS1-4 lesson plans, fun activities and decorations, a quiz, educational story posters, and an inclusivity guide to help every child have the best day possible.

Collecting donations is flexible too. You can have children bring in their coins as a hands-on learning experience, or let parents pay in directly through JustGiving, whichever works best for your school.

Sign up today and you’ll get everything you need to hold a Christmas Jumper Day that’s fun and educational for the kids, and easy for you.

Christmas Jumper Day for the workplace

Running Christmas Jumper Day with your team? Every workplace does it differently, and we'll make sure you've got what you need either way.

Whether you've only got time to send round an email with a JustGiving link and a reminder to wear your jumpers, or your festive office takeover can be seen from the moon, sign up and we'll send you when/where posters, fun activities for work or home (including a quiz), decoration guides, sweepstakes, and motivational story posters.

Paying in is just as flexible. Shake a bucket around the office like it's 1999, or let colleagues text or donate online, whatever suits your team.

Want to make your donation go further? Ask your workplace about matching the total you raise. Every extra pound could make a world of difference to children in the UK and around the world.

Christmas Jumper Day fundraising ideas

Some people wear their jumper and donate their £2. But not you. You're after even more ways to make a difference to the children who need it most, and that makes you awesome.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Bling your boss (or headteacher). Put two jumpers, and two donation boxes, head-to-head for a week and make the loser wear the winning jumper. If they're embarrassed enough, they might just buy their way out of it.

  • Harangue the DJ. Turn off the radio, it's playlist time. For a small donation (we suggest 50p), let people add their favourite song to the mix.

  • Cakes! Cakes! Cakes! Get your star bakers to bring in (or buy) some cakes to sell.

Want more ideas? We'll send you a full digital party bag of them once you've signed up.

Christmas Jumper Day posters

Building a bit of buzz before the big day helps everyone remember to take part, and that's exactly what our Christmas Jumper Day posters are for. Pin them up around the office, classroom or corridor to remind everyone when it's happening and get people excited.

You'll get a set of posters free as part of your welcome pack once you sign up, along with a customisable template if your school or workplace wants to add your own details, dates or house rules.
