What is Christmas Jumper Day?
In December, everyone – and we mean EVERYONE – puts on Christmas jumpers and donates £2 to Save the Children (or £1 if you're at nursery, school or a youth group).
When is it?
Christmas Jumper Day 2021 will be on Friday 10 December. Registrations aren't open yet, but they will be later this year!
Can I do it another time?
Yes! If you want the buzz of knowing millions of other people are getting dressed up at the same time too, then go for Friday 10th December. But if that date isn’t a winner then no worries, just get your jumper out on a day that suits you.
Who can take part?
Everyone, even dogs! (Quite a lot of dogs, actually.) Last year more than 4 million people said they’d wear a silly sweater, and this year could be even bigger.
Do I need to be in a group?
No way! Lots of champion Christmas jumper wearers go solo. It’s all about wearing your jumper with pride. You could even set up your own fundraising page and get sponsored.
How do I sign up?
Sign-ups for Christmas Jumper Day 2020 are now closed. Watch this space later in the year for more information about how you can sign up to Christmas Jumper Day 2021!
Do I have to buy a jumper?
Absolutely 100% no. You do not! In fact, we think it’s awesome if you don’t. You could decorate an old jumper, go to one of our community shops or swap one with friends.
Can I raise more than £2?
Of course! That would make you an awesome fundraiser and mean you’re making an even bigger difference to children all around the world. We’ve got top tips and tactics for raising more money in our free Fundraising Game Plan – just sign up to get one.
Can I donate less than £2?
Please note, JustGiving only accepts a minimum donation of £2. Therefore, if your donation is less than £2 you can:
• Donate via our pay-in form, using your reference number CJD20XXXXXX - [find your reference number in your email or fundraising pack] on any donation made.
• Donate via your school’s payment platform
• Bring in cash - remember to set aside cash for 72 hours when collecting.
How will the money I raise help?
How do I safely pay in my money during Coronavirus?
Once you sign up to the event you'll be offered a team text code that you can share for safe paying in. We'll also be offering each fundraiser to claim a JustGiving page which will include a QR code to help raise money safely, as well as our own pay-in form on the website.
Wherever possible we urge you to pay in your fundraising using these methods, or via the phone at 0808 281 1031.
Where it's not possible to pay in any other way except by cash, we recommend the following guidelines:
- leave money for 72 hours before handling if possible
- wash your hands with soap and water - or with a hand sanitizer if soap and water aren't available - before and after handling money
- if possible, wear disposable gloves while handling money. Safely dispose of these after use, as well as also washing your hands before and after wearing
- practise social distancing when paying in at the bank or post office: wear a mask and keep at least a 2m distance from other people

When will I receive my fundraising total and certificate?
You will receive your thank you email and fundraising total as soon as possible in the New Year, once the income you have raised has been imported into our system.
What should I do if I haven't received my fundraising total by the end of February?
Hold tight! It can sometimes take a few weeks to get donations uploaded to our system. If you haven’t heard from us by mid Feb, please contact Supporter Care on 0808 281 1031 or email email@example.com
Why aren't certificates being sent via the post this year?
Due to the ongoing pandemic there is uncertainty about what will be open/closed in the early months of 2021. We believe the safest & most cost efficient option would be to send fundraising totals via email.
What are Save the Children UK doing instead of mailing certificates?
In the New Year, supporters will receive and email with their fundraising total. The email will also include a link to a downloadable, editable PDF certificate through which they can input their team name and fundraising total.
What is a team text code?
If you're registering at work or somewhere else you can set up your very own team text code. You'll be able to share this with everyone taking part so they can text in their donation. Don't have a team text code? Give the team at Jumper HQ a call and they can set this up for you.
Can I set up a fundraising page online?

When will I get my fundraising pack?
If you’ve just signed up, you will receive a link to the virtual fundraising pack containing the same resources to print from home / work. The Game Plan is still live so you can make use of the activities, social assets and interactive videos.
I still want a fundraising pack - can you send me one?
We aren't automatically sending fundraising packs anymore. If you'd still like one, then once you've registered, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. or call Jumper HQ on 0808 281 1031 and we can send one out to you - no problem.
