Frequently Asked Questions

In December, everyone – and we mean EVERYONE – puts on Christmas jumpers and donates £2 to Save the Children (or £1 if you're at nursery, school or a youth group).

Christmas Jumper Day 2021 is on Friday 10 December.

Can’t make that date? Not a problem, just pick another day.

Yes! If you want the buzz of knowing millions of other people are getting dressed up at the same time too, then go for Friday 10 December. But if that date isn’t a winner then no worries, just get your jumper out on a day that suits you.

Everyone, even dogs (quite a lot of dogs, actually)! Last year millions of people said they’d wear a silly sweater, and this year could be even more epic.

No way! Lots of champion Christmas jumper wearers go solo. It’s all about wearing your jumper with pride. You could even set up your own fundraising page and get sponsored.

Sign up right here, on our registration form - it'll only take a couple of minutes!

Absolutely 100% no. You do not! In fact, we think it’s awesome if you don’t. You could decorate an old jumper, go to one of our community shops or swap one with friends.

Of course! That would make you an awesome fundraiser and mean you’re making an even bigger difference to children all around the world.

We’ve got top tips and tactics for raising more money in our free, downloadable fundraising pack – just sign up to get one and we'll send it to you later in the year.

Absoutely - no matter your financial background, we can all take part in Christmas Jumper Day! Our amazing partner Poverty Proofing have got some brilliant tips to show you how.

By taking part, you’re helping children see the magic in the world again. Sound good? Just read these children's stories to find out more.

This year we aren't working with retailers to sell new Christmas jumpers. Instead we'd love you to reuse your old jumpers, buy second-hand jumpers from charity shops, or get crafty and customise old jumpers.

Once you sign up to the event you'll be offered a team text code that you can share for safe paying in. We'll also be offering each fundraiser to claim a JustGiving page which will include a QR code to help raise money safely, as well as our own pay-in form on the website.

If you've signed up, visit:

christmas.savethechildren.org.uk/fundraising/
[CJD Reference Number]/claim
to claim your JustGiving page (you'll need to add your CJD reference number into the URL).

If this doesn't work, you can claim your JustGiving page here

Wherever possible we urge you to pay in your fundraising using these methods, or via the phone at 0808 281 1031.

Where it's not possible to pay in any other way except by cash, we recommend the following guidelines:

  • leave money for 72 hours before handling if possible
  • wash your hands with soap and water - or with a hand sanitiser if soap and water aren't available - before and after handling money
  • if possible, wear disposable gloves while handling money. Safely dispose of these after use, as well as also washing your hands before and after wearing
  • practise social distancing when paying in at the bank or post office: wear a mask and keep at least a 2m distance from other people

For more support, please visit the UK government's Coronavirus website for the most up-to-date guidelines.

You will receive your thank you email and fundraising total as soon as possible in the New Year, once the income you have raised has been imported into our system.

Hold tight! It can sometimes take a few weeks to get donations uploaded to our system. If you haven’t heard from us by mid Feb, please contact Supporter Care on 0808 281 1031 or email christmasjumper@savethechildren.org.uk

If you're registering at work or somewhere else you can set up your very own team text code. You'll be able to share this with everyone taking part so they can text in their donation.

Don't have a team text code? Give the team at Jumper HQ a call at 0808 281 1031, or email christmasjumper@savethechildren.org.uk, and they can set this up for you.

Yes – great question! Sounds like you’ve got what it takes to be a champion Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser.

If you've signed up, you can set up a JustGiving fundraising page online.

Visit christmas.savethechildren.org.uk/fundraising/[CJD Reference Number]/claim to claim your JustGiving page (you'll need to add your CJD reference number into the URL).

If this doesn't work, you can claim your JustGiving page here

Got any questions? Check out the JustGiving Resources and FAQs.

When you signed up,  we included a link to the online fundraising pack in your confirmation email, and we'll be sending the link out again shortly. If you haven't received your pack, get in touch with the Jumper HQ team on 0808 281 1031 or email christmasjumper@savethechildren.org.uk.

If you're signed up as a school, you'll receive your paper pack around November this year.

To be as sustainable as possible, we're reducing the number of paper packs we send out this year and everyone will receive a link to a downloadable pack. If you're not signed up as a school but would like to receive a paper pack, please email christmasjumper@savethechildren.org.uk with the subject line 'adult fundraising pack'

We're asking anyone who takes part to avoid buying a new jumper! Instead we've stuffed our fundraising pack and Christmas Jumper Day Game Plan full of ideas to turn ordinary jumpers into something magical.

The Jumper HQ team is always happy to help. Give us a call on 0808 281 1031 or email christmasjumper@savethechildren.org.uk.
