I'm a Marketing Executive at Save the Children, sharing the stories of children around the world with our supporters.

Setting intentions for the year ahead can remind us of what’s truly important. But did you know you can achieve your goals and help children at the same time? So why not make every step, penny or signature mean more with our six ways to make change in 2026.

1. Choose your challenge

Run, walk, or cycle. Whatever you choose to do, smash your fitness goals this year and take on a challenge with Team Save. With marathons and treks across the country, there’s a challenge for everyone. So pick yours and discover just how far you can go beyond what you thought possible with our incredible Team Save community to cheer you on.

2. Give your time

If your aim this year is to donate your time, learn new skills and share your existing ones, you can volunteer with us in our shops, in local fundraising groups, and from home. Every minute spent with us helps us reach even more children.

3. Adrenaline-filled achievements

For the challenge-takers who prefer their goals to have a shot of adrenaline – you can support children in 2026 while discovering wonders of the world in our bucket list challenges. Why not skydive in the UK, trek to Machu Pichu, or summit Kilimanjaro, and make ‘I-can’t-believe-I-did-that’ memories, while making incredible change for children.

4. Transform the way you shop

Many of us are conscious of how our purchases affect the world and how much we throw away. When you choose to shop with us, every gift for a loved-one or treat for yourself means so much more. It makes sure a child gets life-saving vaccine, a warm breakfast or the chance to go to school and follow their dreams.

You can also choose to donate items and help children with every preloved jumper, book or board game.

5. Campaign for change

Your name on a piece of paper. It can make powerful change. If you want to make the world better in 2026 with a small act, add your signature to one of our campaigns and help us fight for children’s rights.

6. Leave a legacy

If making a lasting impact through a gift in your will is on your mind, make 2026 the year to take that step. Once you’ve looked after loved ones, leaving a gift in your will is an amazing way of ensuring children have the future they deserve. Your gift will help us to keep children safe, healthy and learning for generations to come. Learn more about leaving a gift in your will or request your free Gifts in Will Guide.

Be a changemaker

Big or small, loud or quiet, there are so many ways to make change in your own lives this year, while making a real difference for children in the UK and across the world too.
