Getting more children reading

For Christmas 2015, Sainsbury’s joined forces with HarperCollins to produce a limited edition children’s book in aid of Save the Children, written and illustrated by acclaimed author Judith Kerr.

Mog’s Christmas Calamity was sold exclusively in Sainsbury’s stores, alongside a special Mog soft toy. An animated Sainsbury’s TV advert, in which the lovable cat caused chaos on Christmas morning, made Mog the year’s must-have festive children’s book and helped raise an incredible £1.6 million.

The money raised will support our mission to get more children reading and improve child literacy in the UK through two key programmes: Families and Schools Together and Born to Read.
