Danilo*, 2 playing at Save the Children's Child Friendly space at a Reception centre in Rădăuți, Romania

Our teams are helping children like Danilo at our child friendly spaces in Reception Centres across Europe. These are rooms where children can play and recover from the traumatic experiences they've been through.

Anna*, 29 and her children, Daryna*, four years old and Danilo*, two fled their home in Ukraine.

“We fled because we were scared. There was bombing in the area. The airport had been bombed and fighting was getting near to a nuclear power station."

Anna says that they didn't have to wait too long before crossing into Romania, but they hope to continue onto Czech Republic where they have friends who can help them.

Anna and her children stayed at a temporary camp before moving to the Reception Centre where they received support from Save the Children. Here, Save the Children also provide advice and information, as well as food and other essentials for families in need.
