After the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution that the UK had pressed for, calling on all Member States to support a “sustained humanitarian pause” to local conflicts, in order to allow for COVID-19 vaccinations, Save the Children said:

“We welcome this leadership from the UK and the Security Council’s unanimous support shows the international community can come together in times of crisis. The resolution could be an important step towards getting covid vaccines to conflict zones. That’s the only way we’ll end this pandemic and ensure the most vulnerable children’s futures aren’t further marred by this disease.

“What’s critical now is that all parties to conflict heed this call and lay down their weapons so humanitarian and medical workers can get vaccinations underway. We also call on the UK and all governments with excess vaccine doses to allocate those to countries that need them.”
