What did you dream of as a child?

That’s a question we asked celebrities and artists – and you can see their answers brought to life around London and a number of other cities this summer for The BFG Dream Jar Trail.

To tie in with the launch of the biggest family film of the summer – Roald Dahl’s magical The BFG – we’ve joined partners to create original sculptures showing the dreams and hopes of a host of celebrity 'Dreamers'. The sculptures will sit inside giant Dream Jars that, rumour has it, The BFG mislaid while delivering dreams to 'chiddlers'.

Well-known names who’ve shared their dreams include Mark Rylance, who stars as the BFG, the film’s director Steven Spielberg, One Direction's Niall Horan, vlogger Zoella, Stephen Hawking, Dominic West and the Arsenal football team.

Want to own one of the jars? You can bid for one here.

Making dreams come true

The BFG Dream Jar Trail is supporting Save the Children to give every child the chance to make their dreams come true.

Every day, we do whatever it takes to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. We work in some of the toughest places in the world so that all children can fulfil their potential, no matter how big their dreams are.

Money raised from the sale of the Dream Jars will help us change the world for the most vulnerable children, giving them the chance to make their dreams come true.

Hear what Steven Spielberg, Dominic West and our Interim CEO Tanya Steele have to say about the trail:

A family day out

If you’re looking for a fun family activity to do in London this summer, the Dream Jars can be spotted around the capital from 9 July to 31 August.

Jars will also be placed in special locations in cities around the country.

  • Dominic West, a Save the Children ambassador, has produced a stunning dream for Syrian children that can be spotted at St Paul’s Cathedral.
  • If you're a One Direction fan, you can see Niall Horan's romantic jar at The View from The Shard.
  • Or, if you're in Manchester, check out the reading dream jar by Ruby Barnhill who plays Sophie in the BFG film.
