LONDON, 28 January - Following the Foreign Secretary’s announcement, Gwen Hines, Chief Executive of Save the Children UK said:
“Afghan children are already dying from hunger and disease, with a million more at risk this winter. This allocation is good news, but the UK Government must commit additional humanitarian funding to Afghanistan to reflect the level of need, on top of these funds which were pledged six months ago. We call on the UK Government to convene an urgent global summit on Afghanistan, and to pay its fair share of a $4.4 billion UN Appeal. The children of Afghanistan have no time to lose.”
