Help with writing your will

You can consult your legal advisor and write your will at any time of year. We recommend the following options to make writing your will simple and help your gift go even further.

If you want to have your will written or amended by a local solicitor, you can choose to take part in Will Aid. Every November professional solicitors waive their will writing fees and instead request a small charitable donation – taking part is a great way to get the peace of mind that comes with having an expert write your will, while also supporting Save the Children and eight other Will Aid charity partners.

The suggested minimum donation is just £100 for a basic single will – significantly less than a lot of solicitors’ fees. To find out more, and to see a full list of all participating solicitors in your local area, visit Will Aid for more information.

Writing or amending your will shouldn’t seem like a daunting process. Our will writing guide is free and takes you through it all step-by-step.

The guide looks at the key things you need to know - how to work out your assets, ways you can write your will and how to include a gift - so you have the information to hand when you need it and you can save time when you come to writing your will.

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your will to Save the Children. With your help we can continue to help the world's most vulnerable children for many more years to come.

Many people now choose to write their will online. Save the Children are happy to refer our supporters to Farewill, who offer simple and affordable digital wills. They are currently suitable for a basic UK will for supporters based in England and Wales only.

A brief series of questions (taking about 15 minutes) allows Farewill to create your will, with live chat or phone support available. Your will is then checked by their legal experts who approve it for you to print, sign and have it witnessed.

And don't forget to use the exclusive code SCUK-LEGACY from our partners at Farewill and it won't cost you a thing.

You can find a local solicitor and write or update your will whenever most convenient for you. The cost will vary depending on the complexity of your will, and you can choose to write mirror wills with your partner if your wishes are the same.

The Law Society is the independent professional body for solicitors.
