5 ways to be generous this Giving Tuesday (that also make your life easier)

In the midst of festive retail frenzy, Giving Tuesday is our chance to take a (quick and easy) meaningful moment to make the world a bit better.

1. Give back as you shop

Earn pressie points, save pounds and do good all at once: grab designer gifts at a Mary’s Living and Giving store – or pop to a Save the Children high street shop for stocking fillers. Don’t forget to take a bag or two of clothes, accessories, DVDs and things with you to donate.

2. Don a Christmas Jumper

Do your bit in a Christmas knit and take part in Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day on 18 December. Because who doesn’t want an excuse to tinsel up in a silly woolly?

3. Pop a goat in your basket

Or choose a feel-good gift for a teacher, midwife or football fanatic in your life. There’s something for every hard-to-buy-for friend on our Wishlist.

4. Snuggle up with a Christmas tale

Share the magic of a Christmas story: reading boosts children’s language skills – it’s key to a brighter future. So why not take ten minutes to sit down with a child in your life and look at a festive book together. (If you’re stuck for ideas try Mog’s Christmas Calamity by Judith Kerr.)

5. Face your fears

Does the length of your Christmas to-do list want to make you jump out of a plane? Do it! Just do it safely, properly, and for a good cause. Take a look at these challenge events and see what takes your fancy.
