Together we can make sure no child is born to die by Helen Evans, Interim CEO of the GAVI Alliance
Thank you Save the Children and thank you to everyone who supports you.
No Child Born To Die tells a profound story. Too many young lives are lost to preventable diseases.
The two biggest childhood killers – diarrhoea and pneumonia – kill three million children every year. Introducing vaccines to prevent these illnesses can save one million children’s lives by 2015. On 14th February in Nairobi, the GAVI Alliance will join the Kenyan government and all our partners to celebrate the global roll out of pneumococcal vaccines, and we are also rolling out rotavirus vaccine to protect against severe diarrhoea.
By hosting a pledging conference of GAVI’s donors on 13 June, the UK will lead the way in ensuring that all children can benefit from the vaccines that our own children receive. With the support of Save the Children we are confident that we can meet our funding target of $3.7bn by 2015, and make a reality of No Child Born To Die.
Sincerely,
Helen Evans
Interim CEO, GAVI Alliance
