Come and support our Great North Run team!

We are nearing the final week of preparations for the Great North Run and the excitement and nerves are building. This is the iconic half marathon, with 54,000 runners pounding the streets from Newcastle to South Shields.

A team of 51 runners from our corporate partner Morrisons are taking part in this year’s race. The team is a mixture of event veterans and first timers; young and, er, more mature runners.

But they all have something in common – the dedication they have shown to this event and to fundraising for Save the Children’s Families and Schools Together projects.

We also have runners from Lloyds Banking Group,  families running together (in fancy dress! Look out for pictures after the race) and individuals from all over England. Save the Children supporter Jo Pavey, is also taking part.

It is a huge event (it can take an hour for people to cross the start line!), and the atmosphere all along the route and at the finish is electric.

The hard work and hours of training clocked by the runners will all be worth it as the coast at South Shields comes into view and they can reflect money they have raised will be spent on Save the Children’s live saving and life changing work.

If you also want to be a part of it you can join us on the day and cheer the team to victory!

Mile 4 – Near Heworth Roundabout and Metro station.

Mile 12 – On Coast Road, approximately 40 minutes walk from South Shields Metro station.
