If you go down to IKEA today you’ll be sure of a big surprise
Wednesday is the official launch of the IKEA Soft Toy Campaign in stores across the country, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partnering with IKEA on this fantastic campaign again to raise funds for our vital education work across the world.
To celebrate the launch, IKEA stores across the country will be hosting teddy bear’s picnics, story time reading sessions, and Bjorn the Bear hunts so grab your kids and get down to your local store to enjoy the fun.
We’ll be spending the day at the IKEA Wembley store encouraging customers to get involved with the activities and telling everyone about the amazing work IKEA help us to do around the world.
How does the campaign work?
Well, from 24 October to 23 December, for every soft toy, children’s book or child’s meal sold by IKEA, 1 euro will be donated to Save the Children and UNICEF (we split the money between us).
Since 2003, the Soft Toy campaign has raised a staggering €32.5 million (that’s just over £30 million), which has helped over 8 million children gain access to a quality education they would not have otherwise received.
This year, the global target is to sell enough toys, books and meals to donate an incredible €12 million (that’s about £10 million!)
Win! Win!
So we need each and every one of our supporters to add IKEA soft toys to their Christmas list this year!
It’s really simple; you get yourself a huge stack of lovely soft toys, and IKEA gives us a huge stack of money for children’s education! It’s win win!
The 2011 range includes some old favourites, like Bjorn Bear at new fabulous price of just 99p, and some new friends, like Mr Broccoli!
Spread the word
Both Bjorn and Mr Broccoli will be featuring in a big way on our Facebook and Twitter pages over the coming months, so make sure you keep an eye out for them and tweet, retweet, post and like to show your support.
And don’t forget, the campaign runs right up until the day before Christmas Eve, so whether you’re an early bird or a last minute whirlwind, the Soft Toy Campaign is here at just the right time!
