Best employer award goes to…us!

Save the Children win at the Third Sector Excellence Awards!

On Wednesday 28 September, our HR Team went to represent Save the Children at this year’s Third Sector Excellence Awards.

Our glamourous HR team!

This year’s ceremony was held at the Lancaster London Hotel.

The night began with a pleasant reception where each of us enjoyed our much-needed complimentary drinks (it was very warm!).

The occasion was well attended by charities including the British Heart Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Comic Relief.

We all looked lovely in our dresses (and tux) as we knew we had to represent Save the Children!

Waiting for the ceremony to begin...

The best sector

Andy Partington from Markel (the show’s sponsor) mentioned that although charities are suffering in this economic down turn, like any other industry, we have still managed to do more with less.

Andy also mentioned that out of all the sectors it is the charities that are the most creative and collaborative. I couldn’t agree with him more!

Team spirit

We were quite anxious before the ceremony but made friends with Merlin who were seated at the table next to us.

We decided if Merlin won then we would cheer and vice versa. TEAM SPIRIT!

The night finally started with Hackney Colliery Band playing old classics such as I’m coming out by Diana Ross.

Some of the winners included Beat Bullying for Use of Digital Media, Muslim Hands for Direct Marketing Campaign and Merlin for their Communications Team.

It was finally our turn the category of Best Employer. We were up against stiff competition from Amnesty International UK and CTVC Ltd.

And the winner goes to Save the Children!

Numerous exclamations of joy could be heard around the table.

We were all ecstatic. Joan Coyle and Mark Lafferty collected our shiny new award.

Well done to EVERYONE at Save the Children! We did it!
