Trips changing lives
Over two years ago I got an email from a lady called Charlene saying she wanted to fundraise for Save the Children by climbing the Great Wall of China with her husband Rob. Two years of hard work later and they’ve just got back!
There were seven of them in total who have raised over £20,000 for Save the Children! So not only will they have had the trip of a lifetime, they will have also changed the lives of vulnerable children all over the world, including the UK.
Here is a picture of them all on the Great Wall of China:
The whole group have come up with ingenious fundraising ideas, such as Hallowe’en fundraising parties, choir concerts, coffee mornings, sponsored keep fit classes and much more.
I can safely say that they have all had great fun fundraising leading up to their trip. And it was all worth it! They also made great friends of the trip, which is just another added bonus.
Charlene said: “The trek was unbelievable. I hadn’t thought about anything other than fundraising and how hard it was going to be, so everything else came as a wonderful surprise. We met some amazing people and made friends for life, we also heard some inspiring stories and saw some fantastic sights. I cried, laughed and got bruised and scratched to death but I cannot shut up about it once you get me started.”
Note of caution: don’t sign up for this trip if you suffer from vertigo!
