Killer Heels online auction goes LIVE!

Today sees the launch of Save the Children’s ‘Killer Heels to kick out Killer Diseases’ online auction. The fashion industry and celebrities have been backing the appeal by donating their most iconic and show-stopping heels.

The nation will be able to go online and start bidding for these shoes as of today at givinglots.co.uk/event/killerheels.

Killer Heels to Kick out Killer Diseases’ has already seen a big interest from celebrities, with heels donated by various high-profile names such as Samantha Cameron and Sienna Miller, Nigella Lawson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor – as well as some fabulous brogues from Jonathan Ross.

Several designers and stores are also supporting the cause, including Nicole Farhi and Nicholas Kirkwood.

The appeal is picking up great interest from the press too with recent coverage featured in The Sunday Times Style,  Grazia, Look, London Evening Standard, Metro  (nationwide) and The Independent online.

We’ve launched Killer Heels on World Pneumonia Day, to draw attention to the fact that it is one of the biggest killers of children under the age of five, with two million deaths last year. Statistically, more infants die of pneumonia than measles, malaria and HIV/AIDS combined.

With the money raised from the appeal, we will be able to pass on life saving advice and treatment to new parents in developing countries to help stop needless child deaths.

A pair of amazing heels for the price of saving a life is a great cause.

Meanwhile, you can also donate any of your unwanted shoes to any of Save the Children’s UK shops, in addition to the two Living and Giving stores in Edinburgh and London.

The online auction is live until 10th December so perfect for those last minute Christmas Gift Ideas too.
