HAITI: Distributions, safe places for children and more to come
Save the Children in Haiti opened a space for children to play, learn and be safe yesterday & hopes to open 100 more in the next week. Medical teams are providing health care today too, and we expect the second distribution of essential items like tarpaulins, soap and cooking pots to start tomorrow. The pressure is on to recruit hundreds of staff from all backgrounds so that we can keep up with the work of our amazing logistics colleagues who have organised flights, trucks, cars and boats of supplies.
Although we’re still bunkering down on floors at night, we’re now broadening our coffee and biscuits diet with some hot rice & beans! More than four hours of sleep at night would be nice but I know that’s a luxury we can’t afford until this critical phase is over.
