The Three Peaks Challenge – will I make it?

As you are probably aware from other blog’s, there’s a group of 12 from RB Healthcare doing the National 3 Peaks Challenge – hopefully, within the 24 hour period (traffic allowing).  There’s been numerous training walks in preparation for the challenge, including the Yorkshire 3 Peaks which we completed in under 10 hours.  A fantastic achievement!

Bad news struck last week when my physio diagnosed me with an inflamed bursa on my left hip.  I’d been struggling throughout the training walks because of a suspected trapped nerve but it wasn’t getting any better, so I finally sought a second opinion.  Rest, ultrasound and lots of ice have been prescribed, so hopefully I might be fit for the challenge in less than 3 weeks.  If not, I’ll have to join in as one of the support staff, but I’d far sooner be walking up the mountains than preparing tea and bacon butties for the others!

The rest of the team will be tackling Scafell Pike in the next few days as the final ‘big’ training walk, so good luck to them and fingers crossed that my hip makes a speedy recovery.
