Only three weeks till the Three Peaks

After lots of talk and various fundraising activities we are now only 3 weeks away from undertaking the Nation Three Peaks Challenge!

Our aim is to raise a total of £11,172 for Save The Children. This equates to £1 for every foot of elevation we plan to climb.

The majority of our 12 strong team recently took on the Yorkshire Peaks Challenge in preparation for the National Challenge. From this walk we gained some very useful learning’s including;

– Decent socks are important if you value the skin on the bottom of your feet after a 24 mile walk!

– If you are planning to walk for 10 hours it is advised that you bring more than just 5 cereal bars to keep energy levels up

– Whilst it is recommended you have sufficient supplies to last the day – 7 litres of water, enough food to feed a small army and 2 changes of clothing are a little excessive for a day trek and will make your backpack rather heavy!

The weather on the day could not have been better and although we all agreed this was a very tough walk everyone involved had a great time.

As part of the Nation Challenge will involves climbing at night, our next training action is to ensure we are all comfortable with navigating and walking in the dark. I will keep you posted on our progress!
