Mixing It Up at Amida

Last Friday evening 40 guys and girls fought it out on the tennis courts of the Amida Club, Hampton for the chance to play in the mixed doubles event at the London & South East Regional Final of the Save the Children Tennis Cup. The Tennis Cup is the competitive part of the national Save the Children Tennis Tournament which is supported by the LTA and Andy Murray.

The standard was incredibly high.  In the end youth won out with the youngest pairing slicing through the opposition in the round robin stage and coming out with convincing victories in both the semis and the final.  We wish them well when they play in the Regional Final at Esporta Chiswick Riverside in September.

A combination of donations made by players to take part and Save the Children Grand Draw Ticket sales meant that the event raised a huge amount of money for Save the Children.  I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and given the very positive feedback from the event, I am looking forward to holding another one next year.

We have well over 100 events registered for the national tournament this year which is absolutely fantastic! For any clubs who have not registered yet, there is still time. So check out the Save the Children Tennis webpage and get involved! Hit tennis balls and help save children’s lives.  You know it makes sense!
