Addis Abbaba to Juba

Greg Ramm and I are on an overnight flight to Addis Abbaba on the way to Juba, the capital of South Sudan. The purpose of the trip is to gain a better understanding of how we operate and deliver for children in the demanding environment of this fragile state. And to see first hand the initial stages of the Save the Children Alliance Unified Presence (UP) process (the South Sudan programme is to unify with effect from 1 October).

We are also planning to stop in Ethiopia on the way back to catch up with the regional office.

I had a particularly uncomfortable flight – why are planes not built with more leg room?  I am just too tall!  Tried to do some background reading on the plane but gave up.
