The Secret Winter Gala 2015

An evening in Wonderland

The Secret Winter Gala returned in style on Wednesday 18 November 2015, as guests stepped into the pages of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

737 playing cards, 592 roses, 500 'eat me' sweets and 'drink me' tonics, 391 chocolate pocket watches, 379 guests, 233 staff, crew and performers, six puppets, one live flamingo...

...and over £1 million raised to transform the lives for hundreds and thousands of children.

Back in style

Our annual star-studded event raised over £1 million, including matched funding from the UK government, to save and transform the lives of children across the world.

Guests including our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, Samantha Cameron, Helena Bonham Carter, Dominic West, Poppy Delevingne, Lenny Henry and Geri Halliwell, enjoyed a magical evening of fine dining, theatrical entertainment and fundraising at London’s historic Guildhall.

A living wonderland

Every element of the evening was designed to bring Wonderland to life as party goers sipped on the Queen of Hearts' royal rose cocktails, ate oysters from the Walrus' ice bar, played neon flamingo croquet and smoked shisha in the Caterpillar’s lounge.

Entertainment was provided by The Staves, who performed live with a breathtaking aerial sphere display overhead by Starfiz. After dinner, George the Poet gave a powerful reading of ‘The Ends of the Earth’. Later, DJs James Lavelle and Hugo Heathcote helped guests party through the night.

An exciting live auction led by Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s Europe, Oliver Barker, saw guests bid to win lots, including a trip to the Maldives and Sri Lanka with the opportunity to visit Save the Children’s work, cocktails in Paris with Cara Delevingne, and the chance to be immortalised in The Beano.

The vital funds raised will help Save the Children ensure that every child, no matter where they are, gets the healthiest start in life, access to life-changing education and protection in times of disaster. To illustrate this, Save the Children Ambassador Poppy Delevingne spoke passionately about her experiences visiting Save the Children’s work in the Democratic Republic of Congo earlier this year.
