The event will begin with a welcome address by Save the Children UK CEO Moazzam Malik and Brittany Jackson, representing the families of Sheffield’s Early Learning Community, who have helped shape the event.
There will then be a screening of the BBC Panorama film, Britain’s Child Health Crisis will be introduced by reporter Rahil Sheikh. Filming took place in South Yorkshire and featured intimate portrayals of families at the heart of Sheffield’s Early Learning Community and the reality of how poverty impacts on children’s health.
During the afternoon, there will be a choice of thematic zones for participants to engage with. Sessions will be solutions-focused, centre the lived experience of children and families, and draw from policy and emerging research. Covering topics including housing, community power, health equity, and education and aspiration, discussions will delve into how lasting change for children can be achieved.
We’re delighted that the day will close with what promises to be an absorbing and insightful panel discussion hosted by Rahil Sheikh and feautring speakers including Professor Sir Michael Marmot, CPAG's Alison Garnham, Mayor of South Yorkshire Oliver Coppard, and chair of Save the Children UK Tsitsi Chawatama-Kwambana.
