Partial suspension of arms sales to Israel: "The UK’s legal commitments are unequivocal and only a full suspension meets them."

London, 2 September 2024 - In response to the UK Government’s partial suspension of arms sales to Israel, Save the Children’s Senior Conflict Adviser Liz Bradshaw said:

“The UK government has rightly recognised the clear risk that the Government of Israel is breaking international humanitarian law.

“But that means a partial suspension of arms sales does not go far enough. The UK’s legal commitments are unequivocal and only a full suspension meets them.

“Failure to do so means that the UK will remain complicit in the deaths of children in Gaza, where more than 14,000 have been killed and families are being starved. UK arms must play no part in this war on children.”
