Statement: '£100m investement is one positive step, but essential funding is addtional to aid budget'
In response to the UK’s Foreign Minister unveiling of £100m in seed funding for businesses, Dan Paskins, Executive Director of Policy, Advocacy & Campaigns at Save the Children said:
“This £100 million investment is one positive step to help unlock and increase finance toward fighting poverty, inequality and the climate crisis. It is essential that this funding is additional to supplement a constrained aid budget and prioritises children on the frontline of these crises.
“As a global financial centre, the UK has a key role and significant influence in mobilising for green and sustainable investment.
“We encourage the UK to leverage every opportunity available to them, including at the upcoming Comprehensive Spending Review and Financing for Development Conference in June, to boost funding for children living in the world's toughest places.”
