CYCLONE BIPARJOY: Significant threats to safety of children and families
In the face of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall which is posing significant threats to the safety of children and families in India and Pakistan, Debadrita Sengupta, Advoacy Manager at Save the Children India said:
“The states of Gujarat and Maharashtra are on high alert as torrential rains are already lashing the western coast of India. As the cyclone makes landfall, it poses a huge risk to life and property.”
Cyclone Biparjoy is just the third cyclone to hit the region in 60 years, endangering children and other vulnerable populations. Save the Children India has been supporting the government with evacuation efforts. Save the Children Pakistan is also mobilizing and preparing emergency supplies.
