Lucy is in labour, 9 hours away from help in rural Liberia. To ensure she doesn’t give birth alone and risk the life of herself and her baby, Save the Children midwife, Alice, drives all night to reach her.

This story is inspired by just one of the midwives we’ve trained around the world, who go where they’re needed most - from war zones and refugee camps, to borders and remote communities.

This is the very first of many ways that Save the Children help create lasting change for and with children.
