Because Children Matter

Children are at the heart of everything we do.  We want to give every child the opportunity to realise their potential – especially those children living on the margins. The ones being deprived of the future they deserve.

With the support of people like you, we continue to believe in a future filled with hope for every child, no matter where they live or their background.

Children like Edizon, Tomás, Maddy and Ghinwa.  Because every child matters.

Healthy Futures

Brothers Edizon and Tomás, at their farm in Quiche district, Guatemala

In rural Guatemala we’re training small farmers in climate-smart agriculture techniques, to help tackle the impact of drought, storms and climate change.

We’ve also paired farmers with local schools, so they get a healthy income, while children like Edizon and Tomás can enjoy nutritious school dinners.

School attendance and grades are up. Malnutrition rates are down.

Generation Hope

Maddison, a young creative who came up with a film about UK poverty for Save the Children

At our creative project for disadvantaged teenagers, Maddy, 16, learned to make short films and teamed up with other young people to create a film about growing up in poverty.

Then they showed their film to MPs at parliament, calling on them to end child poverty in the UK.

Rewrite the Future

Ghinwa’s* family fled war in Syria for a better life in Lebanon. But when Ghinwa’s dad suffered a stroke, she started selling tissues by a busy junction to survive.

Then, age 12, Ghinwa visited an education centre we support in her camp. She learned to read and write and enrolled at school. Now an advocate for children’s rights, we recently supported Ghinwa to give a speech at a global refugee conference.

For Children. Forever

We’re determined to make lasting change, with children and for children.

But we can't do it alone.

Extending your compassion far beyond your own lifetime with a gift in your Will will help us to invest in the long term - building ground-breaking programmes to help children in the UK and around the world get a healthy start in life, grow up safe from harm and have the chance to learn.

Thank you for considering this life-changing decision, to leave a legacy of lasting change.
