Playtime challenge

Play is a serious business

This summer, the UK is coming together to create a million moments of play for millions of children who’ve been missing out during the pandemic.

How Do I take part?

It’s super easy and fun! Together, let's make this a summer of play:

1. Choose your challenge - either from the list below, or take inspiration from our superhero fundraisers! We'll be sharing even more fun ideas on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

2. On your marks, get set ... go! Do the challenge.

3. Post a picture and share the challenge on your social media channels. Don't forget to use the hashtag #MillionMomentsOfPlay so everyone else can see!

4. Do the challenge, make a difference! Donate via JustGiving and share the link on your social media, so your friends and family can donate too.

'Yes' day challenge

Why not take on a ‘Yes’ Day Challenge? Don’t say no, say yes! Set some ground rules, and say yes for a day where you would normally say no.

Channel your inner positivity like Josefina*, raise some cash and help children across the world bounce back after a tough year.

Challenge yourself to a
Read-a-thon

Make your world a little bit bigger and a little bit brighter this summer, and immerse yourself in a read-a-thon. In the last year, millions of children have fallen behind with their learning. Let’s make up for lost time like these children and their mothers in Vietnam, and get reading! Challenge yourself: how many books can you read this summer?

If you have a little bookworm in your life, check out Wonderbooks - our very own monthly children's book subscription full of beautiful, inspiring stories from across the world.

Summer Sleepover

No summer holiday? No problem. Set up camp under the stars for a night this summer like this little one. Get creative and build yourself a den in the garden; see here for some great inspiration. Survive the wild for 24 hours and raise funds to help children play again.

Summer Sports Challenge

Have you been following the football and tennis? Or maybe you’re excited about the Tokyo Olympics? Whatever sport floats your boat, set yourself a challenge doing something you love.

Whether it’s 500 star jumps or challenging yourself to complete as many sporting activities in one day, your efforts will make sure more children like Karlina are free to play. We supported her through our Coaching for Life programme in North Jakarta, Indonesia. “Football helps me channel my energies, I feel like I can take on the world.”

We want to see your moments of play! Share childhood pictures of playtime on your social media, use the hashtag #MillionMomentsofPlay and tag us @savechildrenuk.
