We raised over £235,000 net for our vital emergency work around the world.

AN EXTRAORDINARY CENTENARY GALA DINNER

Summer in the City took place on Wednesday 12 June 2019 and raised an incredible £237,644 for the Children's Emergency Fund. The gala dinner is established as a highlight of the property industry calendar, and the event was no exception…

This was the 12th Summer in the City and an extremely special event as it took place during Save the Children's centenary year. To recognise this extra special year, the gala was very kindly hosted by the Lord Mayor of London at the spectacular Mansion House.

Guests were treated to a choir performance by Falcons School for Girls, which included When I Grow Up from Matilda and A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. Pixie Lott performed two of her greatest hits and gave an exclusive preview of a new song from her forthcoming album.

Amanda Richards, Vice President of Save the Children and Chair of the event committee, spoke passionately about Save the Children and her recent trip to see our work in Uganda. Gareth Owen, Humanitarian Director, led a centenary pledge where his poignant speech doubled the number of donations we have received in previous years. Our auctioneer, Duncan Moir from Allsop & Co, raised £46,000 in the thrilling live auction, which included a magical Maldives holiday and a spectacular piece of art by Piers Bourke.

All 254 guests helped make the evening extraordinary and there was a real sense of camaraderie when due to an electrical fire in the kitchens at Mansion House, there was a last-minute venue change to Plaisterers' Hall. The atmosphere and energy in the room was electric and everyone was in awe that the event was still able to go ahead, despite a change to the venue, menu and timings of the evening!
