INVESTING IN CHILDREN'S FUTURES

The World Bank Group is one of the largest public development institutions in the world. It has the mission to create a world free of poverty on a liveable planet.

Save the Children works closely with the World Bank Group, particularly the International Development Association (IDA), to implement programmes in education, health, and social protection, especially for children in low-income, fragile, and conflict-affected states.

The World Bank’s mission aligns closely with our Global Strategic Goals, particularly child survival, learning, protection, and resilience. Together, we are collaborating to scale up protective services and advance child rights.

Our Impact

Our partnership with the World Bank aims to deliver transformative outcomes for children by shaping global and national policies, scaling evidence-based solutions, and unlocking high-impact replenishment. We work together to catalyse investments in child health, education, protection, and resilience, with a strong focus on fragile and conflict-affected settings.

The early years of a child’s life—starting from conception—determine their outcomes in life and potential to thrive. Investing in these foundational years through healthcare, nutrition, education, and access to essential services is also critical to a strong workforce and jobs of the future.

The World Bank's International Development Association and Save the Children have partnered for over a decade across three continents, working together to deliver better outcomes for children. The partnership is transforming how communities invest in these critical early years, or a person’s human capital, thereby building pathways from vulnerability to opportunity.

This is the story of how targeted, community-driven investments in nutrition, education, and social protection are creating building blocks for future resilience, prosperity, productivity, and leadership.
