Visa Europe

Since 2014, employees at Visa Europe have selected Save the Children as their charity partner to help transform the lives of vulnerable children in communities around the world.

Child refugee crisis

Visa Europe has been a crucial supporter of our emergency response work, making contributions to the Ebola Appeal, Nepal Earthquake Appeal, the Child Refugee Crisis Appeal and our East Africa Food Crisis Appeal, enabling our teams to do whatever it takes to save lives.

In 2015, the Child Refugee Crisis in Europe pushed our emergency teams to the limit, demanding a major response. Visa Europe donated £1 million to our emergency appeal, ensuring we could scale up our response and make a significant impact for children.

The future is contactless

Innovation is also at the heart of our partnership with Visa. In 2015, Visa Europe Collab worked with Save the Children and the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to design and test a mobile, contactless charity collection system. In a time of declining cash, there is a significant role contactless payment technology plays in the future of charitable giving.

The 100-day study revealed as many as 30 per cent of people were likely to donate using contactless payment if given the option, and that one in five shoppers at the London-based Costa coffee counter who paid by contactless payment, went on to make a charity donation at the contactless terminal. However, they were 50 per cent more likely to make a donation if asked by the barista.
