Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic is encouraging customers to donate their international currency and spare change to support our emergency work around the world.
No matter what the emergency, children always suffer the most. Conflict and natural disasters threaten millions of children's survival and well-being every year - and the need is greater now than it has ever been. Our Emergency Fund allows us to respond wherever the need is greatest. It enables us to be on the ground within hours of a disaster striking, so we can reach children immediately with the basics they need to survive.
In 2021, Virgin Atlantic Foundation also contributed significantly to the Save the Children Emergency Fund when a devastating second wave of COVID-19 engulfed India, and cases soared to 400,000 a day. Their timely support enabled us to:
- raise awareness of how families can prevent the spread of the virus – such as handwashing, social distancing and wearing masks
- support health clinics, helping to boost vaccinations, and providing protective equipment for health workers
- give families cash, food and other essentials like soap and hand sanitiser.
- and helped children to keep learning from home during the crisis and giving emotional and psychological support to those who need it.
Virgin Atlantic also supports Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day campaign. In addition to increasing awareness, the company provides a range of opportunities for employee fundraising and encourages customers and suppliers to also show their support. In previous years, Sir Richard Branson has even taken part, and Virgin Atlantic have even designed their own Christmas jumpers too!
Together with Virgin Atlantic, we will ensure that we continue to make sure children are well-fed, healthy and learning, and have more reasons to smile. Together we power possible.
