Johnson & Johnson
Helping families in the UKBetween 2011-2014, Johnson & Johnson donated over £371,000 to our Eat, Sleep, Learn, Play! programme. This helped more than 2,000 UK children living in poverty get essential items such as a child's bed, a family cooker and educational books and toys.
In 2015, Johnson & Johnson committed a further £216,000 to our Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme. FAST brings parents, children, teachers and the wider community together to make sure that children are supported to reach their full potential at school and in life.
Our UK relationship forms part of a wider Global Partnership between Johnson & Johnson and Save the Children, led in the USA. The partnership, which launched in 2014, has now raised over $20M for maternal child health programmes, building resilience with refugee children in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, as well as for Early Childhood Development programmes in the US.
Staff engagement
The company's staff are passionate about supporting the partnership, with employees here in the UK taking part in shop volunteering, bucket collections and Christmas Jumper Day.
As the official health care sponsor of the FIFA World Cup, Johnson & Johnson challenged UK employees to 'Race to Brazil' by undertaking a mile of activity, and completing an hour’s volunteering, to raise funds for Save the Children and local communities.
Seventy per cent of employees took part, with staff across eight Johnson & Johnson UK sites connecting over live broadcast on the day. They achieved triple the 5,462 mile target, raising £30,000.
In 2016 and 2017, Johnson & Johnson employees have been trained as accredited Community Partners, delivering our 8-week FAST programme alongside teachers and programme managers, for disadvantaged families who live near to the Johnson & Johnson sites.
An award-winning partnership
In 2013, we were proud to have our partnership recognised at the Scottish Business Awards, where Johnson & Johnson picked up the Corporate Social Responsibility Award, one of the most competitive and prestigious categories.
UK CSR Lead Rhoda Steel said of the partnership: "Our vision is to transform lives in under-served communities through our business expertise in healthcare, wellbeing and science and we are committed to making a difference to people's lives across the whole of the UK.”
"Thank you to our community partners and everyone at Johnson & Johnson who has played a part in helping to make this CSR vision a reality."
