gift aid

Gift Aid is an arrangement that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means your donations will be worth 25% more to us at no extra cost to you!

Meaning an additional £12.50 could be added to a £50 donation!

It can only be claimed when the donor is a UK taxpayer and is donating from their own funds. If the donor pays less Income Tax and/ or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all their donations; it will be their responsibility to pay the difference.

Claiming Gift Aid on your donations is quick and easy. During whichever way you choose to donate; the option to add Gift Aid or not will be clearly signposted.

Gift Aid will stay in place until you contact us to cancel it.

You can do this by contacting our friendly Supporter Care team by emailing supportercare@savethechildren.org.uk. Please include your address and postcode along with your full name.

You can also call our Supporter Care team on +44 (0)20 7012 6400.

  • All our fundraising emails come from the following email addresses: savethechildren@emails.savethechildren.org.uk or emailnews@emailsavethechildren.org.uk.
  • Emails from any other addresses asking for donations are not genuine.
  • Check if you're on a genuine Save the Children UK donate page.

We also receive donations from supporters’ fundraising activities via websites such as Virgin Money Giving and JustGiving. If you are asked to donate via one of these sites, please check that the link has been sent to you by someone you know and trust.

What to do if you think you've received a scam email:

  • Don’t click any links or open any attachments in the email.
  • If you have already clicked on a link, do not supply any personal information or bank details on the website it takes you to.
  • Don’t reply or try to contact the person who sent you the email.
  • Forward the email to supportercare@savethechildren.org.uk and let us know your suspicions.
