How to run a marathon or race for charity
Running for charity means you can secure a guaranteed place in events like the London Marathon - even if you didn't get through the ballot. With Save the Children, you apply for a charity place, pay a registration fee (if successful), and commit to a fundraising pledge. In return, you get full support from our team: training resources, fundraising guidance, a cheer squad on race day, and a VIP celebration at the finish.
If you already have your own place in any event, you can still join Team Save - just register your place with us and raise what you can, with no minimum pledge.

How do I get a charity place in a run or race?

Browse our upcoming events above and click "Find out more" to apply. For events like the London Marathon, you submit an application and we confirm places on a rolling basis. For smaller events, places are often available immediately.

Do I need experience to run for charity?

No - runners of all abilities join Team Save, from first-timers taking on a 5k to seasoned marathoners. Our Challenge Events Hub gives you training plans and support whatever your starting point.

Can I run a marathon for charity with my own ballot place?

Yes. If you've secured your own place in any event - including the London Marathon - you can still fundraise for Save the Children. There's no registration fee and no minimum pledge.
