Lloyds Banking Group

Save the Children was first selected as the Lloyds Banking Group Charity of the Year in January 2011, and the success of the partnership led to it being extended until the end of December 2012. Thanks to the amazing efforts of colleagues, Lloyds Banking Group has raised over £2.5 million to support our Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme.

By supporting our innovative FAST programme, Lloyds Banking Group is bringing families, schools and communities together to support children across the UK.

Through strengthening these relationships, the programme helps to give the most disadvantaged children in the UK the chance to fulfil their potential.

Lloyds Banking Group also supported our emergency appeal for the Japan earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

Uniting the business

Lloyds Banking Group colleagues have been fundamental to the success of our partnership, thanks to their hard work and innovative fundraising ideas.

Staff have have taken part in a variety of events, from trekking to Everest Base Camp and the summit of Kilimanjaro, to taking part in a group-wide bake sale and a football tournament at the Emirates Stadium.

In 2011 and 2012, more than 600 colleagues took part in a 24-hour cycle challenge, with static bikes in locations across the UK - including the London Eye! Many more Lloyds staff have also supported the partnership through challenge events, quiz nights and sponsored challenges.

These activities have given colleagues opportunities to work together as a team to unite behind our cause and build a strong sense of community responsibility across their business.

Making an impact

We have been delighted to be able to give Lloyds Banking Group colleagues a chance to see the difference they’re making first-hand by inviting them to visit FAST programmes in their local communities.

Paul Turner, Lloyds Banking Group Director of Community and Investment, says of the partnership: “Save the Children has been our Charity of the Year since January 2011, with the ambition to work together to give children living in poverty across the UK a better chance in life.

"Our colleagues have supported the partnership from the beginning, raising funds to start Families and Schools Together (FAST) programmes in communities across the UK.

"We’re delighted to see the dramatic change for children and the school community FAST brings about and we are proud to support Save the Children to give disadvantaged children the best possible chance in life.”
