General

In December, everyone – and we mean EVERYONE – puts on Christmas jumpers and donates £2 to Save the Children (or £1 if you're at nursery, school or a youth group).

The official date for Christmas Jumper Day 2023 is on Thursday 7 December 2023 but you can do it another day if the 7th doesn't work for you.

If you want the buzz of knowing millions of other people are getting dressed up at the same time too, then go for Thursday 7 December 2023.

But if that date isn’t a winner then no worries. You are welcome to get your jumper out on the Friday, or another day that suits you.

Everyone and anyone can take part. At school, at work, at home – in the UK or in any part of the world. Even dogs (quite a lot of dogs, actually)! Last year millions of people said they’d wear a silly sweater, and this year could be even more epic.

We’re unable to let under 18-year-old’s register to take part but you can of course get involved with the jumper fun by getting a parent, guardian or teacher to register your group and taking part with them.

You don't need to be in a group either - lots of champion Christmas jumper wearers go solo. It’s all about wearing your jumper with pride. You could even set up your own fundraising page and get sponsored.

Head to our sign up form, fill out the form and you're all set!

Absolutely not. In fact, we think it’s awesome if you don’t. You could decorate an old jumper, visit one of our charity shops or swap one with friends.

No, £2 is just a suggested donation. You can donate more, or less if you need to. No matter your financial background, we can all take part in Christmas Jumper Day!

We know these are tough times and it’s totally fine if you can’t donate – you’ll still be a massive part of the day!

Nope! Signing up gives you access to lots of resources like our free fundraising packs, but you don’t need to. Just make sure you remember to pay in your fundraising using our online form, which will be live in November. You can leave the reference number section blank as you won't have one.

It's 'Little Pies' by Fleetwood Mac.

Schools who have signed up will receive a fundraising pack in the post, with posters, a certificate and a pay-in slip.

To make sure as much money goes to children as possible we’ll be sending out packs to schools 3 times before Christmas Jumper Day. Once in October if you sign up before September 10th, once in early November if you sign up before October 15th and once 2 weeks before the event for any last minute legends who sign up before November 6th.

To be as sustainable as possible, we won't be sending any other paper fundraising packs out this year. But everyone who signs up will receive a link to our downloadable online fundraising resources.

You'll be sent a link to the resources page as soon as you sign up - keep this email handy, because we'll be adding lots of awesome stuff as we get closer to the event.

We're here to help! Depending on your question, either Save the Children or JustGiving can help answer.

Got questions about Christmas Jumper Day? Email:

Find out more about paying in.

We're asking anyone who takes part to avoid buying a new jumper. Instead, you can craft an old jumper, buy from a charity shop or do a clothes swap with a friend.

Not at all! You can pay in your fundraising before, on the day, or after. If you create a JustGiving page, you don’t need to do anything except sit back and watch the total rise - the funds are automatically sent over to us.

JustGiving

If you create a JustGiving page, you and your team can donate directly there. The money will go to Save the Children. You can also donate on our pay-in form on the Save the Children website.

Of course! 100% of donations will go to us and it's easy to set up - if parents or pupils donate on your JustGiving page then you don't need to do anything else because the funds automatically come to us.

All you need to do is go to ‘Edit’ page and you can change your page title there. Click ‘Edit your page’ above your profile picture.

Please check your junk mail, they sometimes sneak in there. If not, please email the JustGiving technical team: help@justgiving.com

Once you've created your JustGiving page, log in and go to your profile in the top right-hand corner. Click fundraising and you will be able to view your active pages from there.

No. JustGiving has a 0% platform fee on donations made through the site. There is an option to donate to JustGiving but you don’t have to.

Supporters can donate on JustGiving in five currencies: British pounds, US dollars, euros, Canadian dollars and Australian dollars. Just so you know, you can’t donate with a text code in other currencies.

There is nothing you need to do to send the money raised on your fundraising page to Save the Children - the funds are automatically sent, so you can sit back and relax.

Your fundraising page will always reflect the amount you have raised and the total does not change as the funds are sent over. Therefore you are always able to keep track of the amazing fundraising you have done for Save the Children!

Text codes

If you’ve registered for Christmas Jumper Day at work or with family and friends, you can set up a team text code which will enable you or anyone with your text code to donate to Save the Children via SMS. Simply text your team text code to 70050 to donate £5 - e.g. SAVE to donate £5.

You’ll be billed £5, plus your standard network rate. Save the Children receive 100% of your donation. By texting, you agree to calls from Save the Children about fundraising appeals, campaigns, events and other ways to support. Include NO after your team text code and donation amount to opt out of phone calls e.g. SAVENO. Queries? Call: 020 7012 6400. Read Save the Children's Privacy Policy.

Unfortunately, we can’t set up team text codes for schools. We need to ensure that all donations are being made by the person who pays the mobile phone bill, so we do not offer team text codes to schools.

Unfortunately users cannot change their text code if they have one already.

You can find it on most of your Christmas Jumper Day emails. If you can’t find these, you can log into your JustGiving page and your text code will appear in the bottom left-hand corner of the page.

Text your team text code to 70050 to donate £5.

You can log into your JustGiving account and request one - it appears on the bottom of your fundraising page.

If the text code is not available you can try a different one. The common text codes will be used up SANTA, ELF, SAVE, XMAS etc, so try to think of something unique!

If you’re still having problems, please email help@justgiving.com

You’ll be billed £5 plus your standard rate text message. Save the Children will receive 100% of your £5 donation.
