Gifts in wills

Leave a gift in your will

Gifts in wills can help change children’s lives in the UK and all around the world. Find out how to leave a gift in your will to Save the Children.

Our life-saving work wouldn't be possible without the generous support of people like you. Leaving a gift to Save the Children in your will has the power to create endless possibilities for children.

We know will writing can seem confusing and daunting. That's why we've created a free will writing guide, that you can access online or request in the post.

As well as making it easier to write or update your will, the guide also contains information about how your gift can transform children's lives around the world.

We recommend the following options to make writing your will simple and help your gift go even further:

Writing or amending your will shouldn’t seem like a daunting process. Our will writing guide is free and takes you through it all step-by-step.

The guide looks at the key things you need to know - how to work out your assets, ways you can write your will and how to include a gift - so you have the information to hand when you need it and you can save time when you come to writing your will.

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your will to Save the Children. With your help we can continue to help the world's most vulnerable children for many more years to come.

Many people now choose to write their will online or over the phone. Save the Children are happy to refer our supporters to Farewill, for the chance to write your will for free. The service is suitable for supporters based in the UK.

Get started online by answering a brief series of questions (taking about 15 minutes) to complete your will. And if you have any questions, you can talk to their team by email or on the phone. Your will is then checked by specialists who approve it for you to print, sign and have witnessed.

If you want to have your will written or amended by a local solicitor, you can choose to take part in Will AidEvery November professional solicitors waive their will writing fees and instead request a small charitable donation – taking part is a great way to get the peace of mind that comes with having an expert write your will, while also supporting Save the Children and eight other Will Aid charity partners.

The suggested minimum donation is just £100 for a basic single will – significantly less than a lot of solicitors’ fees. To find out more, and to see a full list of all participating solicitors in your local area, visit Will Aid for more information.

You can find a local solicitor and write or update your will whenever most convenient for you. The cost will vary depending on the complexity of your will, and you can choose to write mirror wills with your partner if your wishes are the same.

The Law Society is the independent professional body for solicitors.
