What are Wonderbooks?

As the world changes all around us children are becoming more and more aware of real life issues. They may hear adults talking about them, learn things at school or online, and have lots of questions. As parents and caregivers we want to make sure we’re responding well to our children’s interest in world events, and the lives of other kids, but it’s sometimes hard to know where to start. That’s where Wonderbooks come in. 

What are Wonderbooks?

Wonderbooks is a monthly children’s books subscription that tells real life stories, which we deliver straight to your door. Each book is inspired by a child or children who we have met through our work and addresses a broad range of topics in a child-friendly way including: Life as a refugee; Education for girls; Resilience; Life in developing countries; Migration; Life in rural communities; Life in nomadic communities; Immunisation. 

How does it work? 

Each Wonderbook comes with a guide to help you and your child discuss the issues in the book. There’s some information at the back of each book too about the real-life children who inspired the story. We’ll send you emails to let you know your book is on its way and share some extra information about that month’s story. 

What age are these books suitable for? 

Wonderbooks are perfect picture books for you to read to young children – aged around four to eight – who are just starting to learn to read themselves. You might even know a grown up or two who’ll enjoy these adventures too! Every child is different, so it’s a good idea to read the books first so you’re sure you’re happy the themes covered are appropriate for your child.

What’s the connection to Save the Children? 

Your monthly donation goes directly to Save the Children. In return we'll deliver a different Wonderbook to you for up to 12 months. A small portion of your donation helps cover the cost of producing and sending your Wonderbooks and the rest supports our work to power possibility for every child.
