To honour those who lost their lives in the attack on our office in Afghanistan on 24 January, we have turned the Save the Children logo black, to represent our mourning for this tragic loss of life.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four Save the Children staff members who were killed on Wednesday morning in an attack on our office in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
As an organisation we are truly devastated by the loss. We fight for children every single day, to help them realise their potential and go on to change the world. We are doing everything we can to ensure all of our staff get the support they need in the aftermath of this devastating incident.
We are shocked and appalled at the violence, carried out against our staff in Afghanistan who are dedicated humanitarians, committed to improving the lives and wellbeing of millions of children across the country. Attacks against aid workers must never be tolerated and have a direct impact on the children we work to protect.
Save the Children has been working in Afghanistan since 1976 providing life-saving health, education, nutrition and child protection programmes that have helped millions of children. Our humanitarian workers take huge risks to ensure that children in some of the most dangerous places in the world are protected, and we will not stop.
