Fundraising their way to the top of the world
When Susie Sherpa-Baer was listening to her step-mother talking about the annual village fête to raise money for Save the Children, she had an idea.
Going the extra mile
Susie thought it was great that her step-mum and friends put so much time and energy into raising funds, and she was inspired to organise her own event.
But Susie’s fundraising was going to venture a little further afield, and, as director of The Walking and Climbing Company (based in East Yorkshire), Susie knew exactly which form her fundraising was going to take.
On top of the world
Susie talked through her idea with her Sherpa husband and Everest mountaineer, Kalsang, and they both thought: “Why not? Let’s support them too!”
In October 2013, The Walking and Climbing Company will hold a trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal in aid of Save the Children.
Join a once in a lifetime adventure
Susie and Kalsang are welcoming new walkers to join in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
They have created a trip that’s a fun and challenging trek, and enables people to raise funds for Save the Children’s work.
In October, the weather in Nepal should be be warm and sunny.
The trek will thread though the mountain villages, along well-worn trails, with beautiful views.
The trip’s target is to raise at least £30,000 in aid of Save the Children. Find out more.
