World-famous supermodel Erin O'Connor has worked for designers including Giles Deacon and Marc Jacobs, and was described by Karl Lagerfeld as “one of the best models in the world”.
Erin first joined Save the Children to front our Bag to Save a Life auction, which aimed to raise money for and awareness of health workers around the world. The auction was supported by a range of high profile artists and raised more than £20,000.
In 2020, Erin was one of many celebrity supporters to take part in our 'Christmas Jumper Day At Home' photo series;
She said: "[My son] Albert, in particular, thoroughly enjoyed being a stylist, creative director, photographer and DJ for the day!
"Imagine his delight at being actively encouraged to boss his Mama around for the day - what child wouldn’t? (boy he worked me hard!).
"I really do hope that the pictures reflect the joy we had in creating them. There were many guffaws, outtakes and most importantly, reasons to reflect on the day and why fundraisers like Christmas Jumper Day are so important to Save The Children.
Erin added: "As a very proud ambassador, I have seen the huge impact that fundraisers like Christmas Jumper Day can have on the lines of the most vulnerable children."
In January 2012, Erin travelled to India, which inspired her continued work with us. She said: “I came away from my trip to India feeling very determined that every child should have the chance to lead a healthy life. But tragically this isn't the case for millions of children.
"I know we can tackle this hidden crisis. By working together to raise awareness, we can do something about it.”
With her in-depth knowledge of the fashion industry, Erin has helped us both behind the scenes and by fronting campaigns. In June 2015, she teamed up with Mary Portas as part of our Fashion Saves Lives project, inviting celebrities to donate their children’s clothes in aid of our health work.
Erin also took part in our Fashion Saves Lives Designer Sweater campaign, partnering with Giles Deacon to design a Christmas Jumper in aid of Save the Children.
Erin also has a substantial following across social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram and helps our messages reach thousands more people via her own online presence.
