There are high rates of illiteracy among women, particularly in less developed Arab countries. Many children do not have access to basic education. Public spending on education has declined since 1985. We've been helping children in the Middle East almost since we were founded in 1919.

 We've been in the Middle East since the 1930's, and established an office in Cairo in 1998. We’re improving the quality and accessibility of education as well as working to protect children from abuse. |  We're scaling up our work inside the country, and we're raising awareness about children's rights. |  We’re advocating for children’s rights and working to protect children from violence and abuse. We also respond to emergency needs caused by conflict. |
