West Africa Appeal
More than one million children face starvation in Niger and across the Sahel region of west Africa. We've been warning of an impending disaster since last year but despite efforts by us and others, we're now responding to a crisis situation in Niger.
We must do something to prevent this crisis turning into a catastrophe. Our teams are on the ground, saving lives. But we need your support to reach more children.

What's happening
Right now 18 million people are facing a hunger crisis in west Africa. It's been triggered by crop shortages, rising food prices and insecurity in neighbouring countries.
In Niger, food and medicine is fast becoming out of the reach for the poorest families. Unless we act now, this could soon be the case for other parts of west Africa.
Within a month millions of children could be hungry, thirsty and desperately in danger of becoming critically malnourished. We can save their lives, but we need to act now.

What we’re doing
We’re on the ground, helping to save lives across Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Burkina Faso.
We are already reaching nearly 300,000 of the most vulnerable children and their families in west Africa with food and livelihoods support, helping prevent their situations from becoming too desperate.
But we need your help to avoid yet more families falling into crisis, before it is too late
